The Economy and Business portal TurkishTime has announced the 500 companies that made the highest R&D expenditures in 2024. According to the list, TUSAŞ – Turkish Aerospace Industries Inc. ranked first with TL 51.5 billion in R&D spending. Among the defense industry companies, Aselsan Electronics Industry and Trade Inc. ranked second with TL 31.9 billion , while Roketsan Rocket Industry and Trade Inc. took third place with TL 6.7 billion . Ford Otomotiv Sanayi A.Ş. came in fourth with TL 6.2 billion , and Havelsan – Air Electronic Industry and Trade Inc. ranked fifth with TL 4.9 billion .
In the iron and steel sector, Ereğli Iron and Steel Factories Inc recorded the highest R&D expenditure in 2024, with TL 272.9 million . The company carried out 69 projects, employed 64 R&D personnel, and aims to increase its R&D spending to TL 429.8 million in 2025.
Döktaş Dökümcülük Industry and Trade Inc. ranked second with TL 124 million in R&D spending. The company carried out 37 projects and continued its activities with 66 R&D personnel. The planned R&D expenditure for 2025 was announced as TL165 million .
Borçelik Steel Industry and Trade Inc. ranks third with TL 103.3 million in R&D expenditure. The company carried out 26 projects and operated with 52 R&D personnel, aiming for a spending target of TL140 million in 2025.
Norm İzmir Civata Industry and Trade Inc. stood out as another notable company in the sector with TL 75.6 million in R&D expenditure. The company managed 29 projects, employs 66 R&D personnel, and plans to invest TL 150 million in 2025.
Borusan Machine and Power Systems Industry and Trade Inc. ranked with TL 61.9 million , Çimtaş Steel Manufacturing, Assembly, and Installation Inc. with TL 46.8 million , Çemtaş Steel Machinery Industry and Trade Inc. with TL 34 million , Kayseri Metal Center Industry and Trade Inc.. with TL 33 million , Akdaş Foundry Industry and Trade Inc.with TL 30.8 million, Çelik Steel rope and Wire Industry Inc. with TL 23.4 million , and Kar-el Iron Wire Industry and Trade Ltd. Co. With TL 18.5 million in R&D expenditures, all appearing on the list.
