The flying taxi Midnight enters service in 2026

The Dubai Airshow 2023, held in the city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, hosts more than 1400 participants from 95 countries. The exhibition showcases a variety of aircraft developed by companies from different countries.

One of the notable vehicles at the event is the vertical takeoff and landing aircraft Midnight, designed by the U.S.-based aviation company Archer. The aircraft is fully electric and has a flying capacity of up to 160 kilometers, designed for city journeys of up to 80 kilometers.

Aiming to reduce long journeys to minutes, the vehicle has a speed capacity of 241 kilometers per hour. It can cover 40 kilometers in 10 minutes and can carry 4 passengers, excluding the pilot. Midnight, which also offers luggage transportation, can travel 32 kilometers with a 12-minute charge.

It will start serving as a taxi in 2026

The aircraft, operating 100 times quieter than a helicopter, is expected to provide an alternative to road transportation with its competitive pricing. Numerous test flights have been conducted with the vehicle to date. The vehicle aims to achieve safety certification levels similar to commercial airlines, and the certification processes are ongoing.

The vehicle, envisioned for use in various areas such as passenger transport, cargo and logistics, and emergency services, is targeted to provide taxi services in the United Arab Emirates and India in 2026.

"Hoping to complete the certification process in 2025"

Adam Goldstein, the Founder and CEO of Archer, mentioned that they hope Midnight will complete the certification process in the United States by 2025. He stated that upon completing this process, they plan to commence international operations in 2026. Goldstein emphasized that their company is among the best in the world in its field, possessing advanced engineering, certification processes, and manufacturing stages.
