The export performance of iron and steel companies in the ISO 500

The 2024 ISO 500 list, which ranks Türkiye's largest industrial enterprises, revealed that export performances in the iron and steel sector show significant differences among companies.

While some companies experienced a decrease in exports due to the fluctuations in global demand, the increase in energy costs and geopolitical developments, some companies drew attention with their export increases. While many iron and steel companies on the list suffered losses in the ranking, there were also companies on the rise.

Companies that increased their exports

  • İskenderun Demir ve Çelik A.Ş. increased its exports from USD 312 million in 2023 to USD 670.8 million in 2024, an increase of more than 115%. This increase moved the company up 32 places in the ISO ranking, from 52nd to 20th place.
  • Çolakoğlu Metalurji A.Ş., with exports of USD 438.6 million in 2024, achieved an increase of USD 137.6 million compared to 2023 and moved up 26 places from 59th to 33rd in the ISO ranking.
  • Tatmetal Çelik realized exports of USD 590.6 million in 2024, an increase of USD 237 million. It climbed 16 places from 40th to 24th place.
  • Diler Demir Çelik, with exports of USD 485.8 million, increased by USD 186.9 million compared to 2023 and ranked 30th from 60th to 30th, up 30 places.
  • Mescier Demir Çelik increased its exports from USD 171.5 million in 2023 to USD 215.6 million. With this 26% increase, the company climbed 22 places from 123rd to 101st.
  • Ereğli Demir ve Çelik (ERDEMİR) increased its exports by USD 83.1 million to USD 302 million. It jumped 41 places in the ISO ranking, from 98th to 57th place.

Companies whose exports decreased and fell in the ranking

  • Yazıcı Demir Çelik decreased from USD 342.2 million to USD 232.9 million, a decline of 31.9%. The company dropped 46 places in the ISO rankings, from 43rd to 89th.
  • Erciyas Çelik Boru decreased its exports from USD 208.7 million to USD 117.8 million and dropped 90 places from 101st to 191st.
  • Asil Çelik realized exports of USD 143.1 million in 2024, a 22% decrease. The company fell from 112th to 156th place, losing 44 places.
  • Ekinciler Demir Çelik suffered a sharp 72% decrease from USD 37 million to USD 10.3 million, dropping 77 places from 329th to 406th.
  • Borusan Boru suffered a loss of USD 59 million in exports, decreasing from USD 327 million to USD 267.6 million. The company dropped 22 places in the ISO rankings, falling from 47th to 69th place.
  • Trinox Metal decreased its exports from USD 22.3 million in 2023 to USD 9.5 million. With a 57% decrease, the company dropped 32 places, from 377th to 409th.

Notable small but steady increases

  • Kocaer Çelik increased its 2023 exports of USD 316.5 million to USD 330.2 million. The company climbed 3 places from 50th to 47th place.
  • Özkan Demir Çelik advanced 3 places, increasing from USD 160.6 million to USD 172.6 million.
  • Erdemir Çelik Servis Merkezi climbed 21 places by increasing its 2023 exports of USD 76 million to USD 92.7 million.
  • İlhan Demir Çelik reached USD 29.4 million with an increase of USD 6.5 million. It climbed 21 places in the ISO ranking, from 375th to 354th place.
  • ÇEMTAŞ showed a limited increase of USD 1.5 million with exports of USD 45 million in 2024 and moved up 8 places.
