Speaking at the 23rd International Competition Conference held in Berlin, Ribera stated that the Clean Industrial State Aid Framework (CISAF), adopted in June 2025, was prepared to accelerate the transformation of European industry and support decarbonization investments.
While expressing that the framework in question specifically aims to encourage clean technology investments and low-carbon production, Ribera pointed out that existing mechanisms might not be sufficient on their own in the event of a prolonged and deep crisis in energy prices.
The European Commission Vice President noted that in such a scenario, the European Union could consider the option of temporarily adapting state aid rules to protect industry and maintain production capacity. Ribera also emphasized that developments in energy markets continue to be closely monitored and that additional measures to ease the pressure on industry could come to the agenda when necessary.
