The call from Norsk Hydro to EU and USA

Hilde Merete Aasheim, CEO of Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro, said that Russia's aluminum production capacity in the U.S. and EU has been slashed as Europe faces an energy crisis and rising electricity costs, leading to the closure of half of Europe's aluminum production capacity. He said Russia's aluminum production was unaffected and benefited from the closure of European aluminum smelters. The European aluminum industry, on the other hand, will not be able to compete with Russia with the current high energy costs.
