Italy’s steel production continued kept rising in October

Italy’s steel industry maintained its positive momentum in October, marking a fourth consecutive month of y-o-y growth.

Italy’s steel production continued kept rising in October

According to the latest data released by Federacciai, steel mills across the country produced 2 million tons in October, posting 2.2% y-o-y growth. This brought total output for the first ten months of the year to 17.5 million tons, up 3.1% y-o-y.

Strong momentum in long products

Long products remained the driving force of the steel sector in October. Output in this segment rose 11.6% y-o-y to 1.2 million tons. Over January–October, long steel production reached 10.4 million tons, marking a 4.4% y-o-y increase.

Flat products back in decline

After a brief m-o-m recovery in September, flat steel production turned negative again in October. Output totaled 779,000 tons, down 2.6% y-o-y.

Despite the monthly setback, January–October flat steel production reached 7.6 million tons, showing a 4.7% y-o-y gaincompared with the same period last year.
