Taiwan's scrap imports increased

Looking at Taiwan's customs statistics, total scrap imports in the country increased by 18 percent year on year to 1.75 million mt in January-June 2023.

In the first six months of 2023, the US exported 640,200 mt of scrap, up 2 percent year on year. Thus, the USA became the country that Taiwan supplied the most scrap.

Also in the same period, scrap exports from Japan to Taiwan increased by 100 percent year on year and amounted to 480,850 mt.

In June 2023, Taiwan's scrap imports increased by 26 percent year on year to 296,240.
