Steel producer Gerdau will buy power from its 80 MW solar plant in Texas.
Power Global, has signed an energy purchase agreement (PPA) that makes it possible to build an 80 MW solar park in Texas.
The 20-year contract has been signed with steelmaker Gerdau Long Steel North America, which will use the electricity generated by the solar power plant behind the steel plant in Midlothian (BTM).
The project involves the installation of more than 231,000 solar panels on an area of more than 700 acres. It is expected to create more than 200 jobs during construction and generate US$19 million (17 million euros) in tax revenue over the next 30 years.
Construction is expected to begin by the end of this year and construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2021.
