Tata Steel CEO and Managing Director T V Narendran presented the award to SMS India Pvt. Ltd COO Stefano Pari, Sanjay Dasgupta and Narinder Singh Malhan.
The justification for the award was cited as “For successful commissioning of Caster 2 at TSK Ph-2 and support in of execution of BOF and Caster 3 at TSK-Ph-2”.
SMS Group is also partnering with Tata Steel on its decarbonization journey with the development and trial of the new technology EASyMelt project. At METEC 2023, SMS Group and Tata Steel reportedly signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for an innovative industrial demonstration of EASyMelt technology at Tata's Blast Furnace E in Jamshedpur, India.
The project, planned to be demonstrated, aims to reduce CO2 emissions in the basic operation of the blast furnace by more than 50% in the first phase. EASyMelt reportedly has much lower investment and operating costs compared to conventional direct reduction plants.
