Kingdom of Bahrain-based company SULB Company BSC placed an order for SMS group for two pieces. The order includes the modernization of the four-wire casting unit for the production of slabs and front sections, along with the improvement of the 130-tonne electric arc furnace.
Among the main objectives of this modernization project is primarily to increase the job security of the operating personnel. Thanks to this project, which aims to increase the efficiency and safety of the systems, the quality of the products produced will also be increased.
Located in the Hidd industrial area in Bahrain, the SULB plant consists of a steel mill and a medium section rolling mill and covers the entire process from directly reduced iron processing to finished steel. The aim of modernization is to prevent the furnace atmosphere from leaking out, thereby increasing furnace efficiency, while the most important part of modernization The other is that the electric arc furnace will be equipped with an enhanced automatic slag gate (CONDOOR).
With the improved automatic slag gate, the slag will be cleaned automatically and the iron oxide content in the slag will be significantly reduced. In this way, the modernization project will be an important step in ensuring the safety of the operating personnel. In addition, it will not be necessary to remove the slag using a forklift. At the same time, if this modernization is implemented, energy consumption will decrease and more products will be produced.
