Shaping the future of steelmaking in Duqm

The Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) reactor vessel, weighing 870 metric tons, was successfully delivered to the Jindal Steel Duqm project site in accordance with the planned logistics and engineering processes.

Shaping the future of steelmaking in Duqm

In a defining moment for one of the region’s largest industrial investments, the Jindal Steel Duqm project has successfully crossed its most critical operational readiness milestone to date. The 870-metric-tonne Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) Reactor Vessel, which will serve as the definitive heartbeat of the plant’s iron-making operations, has safely arrived at the project site. This achievement marks a major turning point in heavy industrial engineering, bringing the facility significantly closer to production.

Transporting a mega-structure of this magnitude required months of meticulous planning and the deployment of advanced logistics technology:

Maritime Integration: The massive equipment made its initial landfall at the Port of Duqm via a specialized cargo barge, completing its sea transit seamlessly.

Advanced Onshore Logistics: For the overland transfer to the construction site, the heavy-lift team utilized cutting-edge SPMT (Self-Propelled Modular Transporters) and RoRo (Roll-On/Roll-Off) systems.

Precision Time Management: Driven by engineering precision and seamless teamwork, this complex and challenging transit was completed with zero errors over a rigorous 14-hour journey.

The arrival of this critical equipment signals the project’s official transition from foundational civil works to advanced mechanical installation. With this milestone, Jindal Steel is doing more than just building a modern plant; it is establishing a world-class metallurgical infrastructure that underscores its commitment to shaping the future of global steel production.
