Severstal Steel Solutions has officially launched a new 22,000 square meter production complex at its Oryol facility, marking a major milestone in its expansion. With this addition, the plant has become one of the largest steel structure manufacturing hubs in Russia. The new line is expected to triple the facility’s output, reaching up to 32,000 steel structures annually. The full cycle production process includes everything from cutting and processing metal parts to fabrication and assembly.
As part of the development efforts launched in 2023, unused production areas were demolished to make way for the construction of a modern metalworking workshop. For the new production operations, a total of nine key pieces of equipment were installed, including two shot blasting machines, three cutting and drilling lines, two plasma cutting machines, and automated welding lines for both I-beams and large section box beams. This marks the first time a welding line of this scale is being used in Russia. To support the purchase and installation of the core process equipment, the Industrial Development Fund provided a low interest loan of RUB 691 million.
Severstal CEO Alexander Shevelev stated the following at the opening ceremony:"The launch of our new steel structure production facility is a strategic step not only for our company but also for the entire Russian construction sector. This unique production line will provide Severstal Steel Solutions with opportunities to enter new markets, while enabling the production of large and heavy steel structures at the Oryol plant. With our extensive engineering experience and strong production infrastructure, we are ready to provide end-to-end services to our customers operating in the oil, gas, industrial, and construction sectors."
The new investment has created employment opportunities for 330 people, significantly increasing the facility’s workforce capacity. Recruitment is ongoing for technical positions such as electric and gas welders, gas cutters, CNC metal processing operators, painters, and machine operators.
Dmitry Manakov, Group Director of Severstal Steel Solutions, stated, “I would like to thank all our employees who contributed to this project. While modernizing our production facilities, we also built a modern, two story, 1,000 square meter social facility with showers and changing rooms for the comfort of our staff. We will continue to create employment opportunities for the local community and graduates of regional vocational schools. Additionally, we offer our employees competitive salaries, comprehensive benefits, and housing support programs.”
At the opening ceremony, Andrey Evgenievich Klychkov, Governor of the Oryol Region, stated, “Severstal Steel Solutions has been a reliable partner of our region for many years. With the expansion of metal structure production, the facility will become one of the largest employers in the region, strengthen our industrial potential, and attract new investors. I congratulate the company and wish them continued success.”
