Once fully operational, the mill will have a design capacity of 900,000 tonnes of rolled products per year, following the launch of its second production line. Currently, the first stage of the complex has been put into operation, including a charging and reheating furnace section, roughing, intermediate, and finishing stands, high-speed blocks, a Stelmor cooling line, and a packaging and transportation section.
When the facility reaches full capacity, it will completely replace the output of the existing Mill 150, improving efficiency and product quality.
As part of the second phase of the project, scheduled for the first half of 2026, Severstal plans to launch an additional Stelmor line and a Garrett coiler. Following the full commissioning of Mill 170, production flows within Severstal’s long and tubular product divisions in Cherepovets will be restructured, with the new facility assuming part of the product range currently produced by Mill 250.
