The Mukaab project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, is set to make construction history with a record steel order. The New Murabba Development Company (NMDC) announced a steel order of approximately 1 million tonnes, valued at USD 1 billion. This steel will form the primary structural framework of Mukaab, enabling the building’s critical stages to progress on schedule.
Foundation work is being carried out in collaboration with China Harbour and UAE-based HSSG. Out of 1,200 planned piles, nearly 1,000 have been installed, and over 15 million cubic meters of soil and material have been relocated. These massive infrastructure efforts, together with the steel order, highlight the scale and importance of the Mukaab project and establish it as an iconic structure reflecting Riyadh’s modernization and global vision.
Mukaab is located at the heart of Riyadh’s New Murabba district, with completion planned for 2030. The area will feature residences, hotels, retail spaces, parks, a museum, and more than 80 cultural and entertainment venues, forming a modern urban center. Additionally, a new stadium for the 2034 FIFA World Cup will be part of the development.
