Steel manufacturer Salzgitter Flachstahl has signed a major deal with German energy company Energiekontor to source green electricity from two new solar parks, as part of its commitment to sustainability goals.

Salzgitter Flachstahl signs deal with Energiekontor for green electricity

The agreement will see Energiekontor supply Salzgitter Flachstahl with electricity from the two solar parks, which are being built in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The parks, with a total capacity of 113 MW, are scheduled to be operational by mid-2026 and will provide over 120 GWh of green electricity per year to Salzgitter Flachstahl.

The 15-year Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) represent a long-term partnership between the two companies as they both transition towards a sustainable energy future.

"These agreements are a major step for our company in achieving our green energy goals and diversifying our suppliers," said Ralf Schaper, Head of Energy Management at Salzgitter Flachstahl.

Energiekontor, a leading developer and operator of wind and solar energy projects in Germany, is reaffirming its commitment to providing sustainable energy solutions with this agreement.
