Saarstahl has strengthened its leading position in sustainability by receiving a platinum medal from EcoVadis

The German steel producer Saarstahl Group has been awarded a platinum medal by EcoVadis, one of the world’s leading corporate social responsibility rating organizations, for its sustainability strategy and practices.

Saarstahl has strengthened its leading position in sustainability by receiving a platinum medal from EcoVadis

This rating impressively highlights the Group’s commitment to sustainability and places it among the top one percent of all companies assessed by EcoVadis. The medal will remain valid until September 15, 2026.

Compared to the previous rating, Saarstahl increased its total score by seven points to 85, achieving significant progress in all four categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. The company performed particularly well in the Environment category, scoring 94 points — well above average. EcoVadis rated Saarstahl’s overall sustainability performance as “outstanding.”

Dr. Peter Maagh, Member of the Board of Management for Technology and Production at Saarstahl, commented on the platinum status: “The platinum status is an exceptional achievement that places us in the top league of sustainability. It confirms our commitment to sustainability across all business areas – from procurement to reducing emissions in production processes. The medal also emphasizes our position as a trustworthy and responsible partner in the eyes of our stakeholders.”

The EcoVadis rating is based on the criteria of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the United Nations Global Compact, and the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). This system makes sustainability performance internationally comparable and ensures that certified companies are evaluated according to a globally competitive standard.
