Russian steel enterprises produced 6.1 million tonnes of steel in April 2024

In April 2024, the production of all main products of the Russian ferrous industry decreased compared to April 2023.

Pig iron production in April was 4.2 million tonnes, down 5,3% from the same month last year. Pig iron production in the first four months of 2024 was 17,2 million tonnes, down 2,4% year-on-year.

In April 2024, Russian steel enterprises produced 6,1 million tonnes of steel. This represents a decrease of 7,5% compared to April of the previous year. In the first four months of this year, the production volume decreased by 3,2% to 24,4 million tonnes.
In April, finished steel production fell by 5,3% year-on-year to 5,4 million tonnes. In the January-April period, production volume decreased by 2,4% to 21,3 million tonnes.

Russian steelmakers also increased steel pipe production to 1,1 million tonnes (+5%) in April, but output in the first four months of the year fell to 4.085 million tonnes (-3.2%).
