Qatar's construction sector poised for a good year

Qatar's construction sector is expected to grow by around 2% in 2025. This growth will be supported in particular by the North Field East expansion projects and state-backed infrastructure investments. However, growth rates are expected to remain below the 2010-2019 average.

Qatar's construction sector poised for a good year

Qatar's construction sector is expected to grow by around 2% in 2025, showing a significant recovery compared to previous years. The sector's recovery began in the third quarter of last year, following contractions in 2024, and growth continues. In the third quarter, the sector grew by 7.7% year-on-year.

The main drivers behind this growth include the North Field East expansion projects and government-led infrastructure investments. However, experts caution that growth rates will remain below the 12.3% average seen between 2010 and 2019. This is mainly because demand for large-scale projects will decline following the completion of FIFA 2022-related projects.

Qatar's hydrocarbon sector is also expected to grow by 0.7% in 2025. After a 0.8% increase in 2024, hydrocarbon production is forecast to increase by 1.6% in 2025. However, hydrocarbon sector growth forecasts have been revised downwards due to underperformance in the mining sector. Experts expect the sector to grow by an average of 5.6% from 2026 onwards as North Field expansion projects come online.
