Pyro Green-Gas has completed the installation of a hydrogen production and gas purification system at Tata Steel's facility in India

Pyro Green-Gas Inc., a subsidiary of high-tech company PyroGenesis Inc., announced that it has successfully completed a USD 9.3 million coke oven gas upgrading and hydrogen production project at Tata Steel's facility in Kalinganagar, India.

Pyro Green-Gas has completed the installation of a hydrogen production and gas purification system at Tata Steel's facility in India

The project involved processes such as coke oven gas purification, sulfur removal, and heavy hydrocarbon separation to produce high-purity (99.999%) hydrogen. Pyro Green-Gas provided the necessary technologies to separate, purify, and recycle hydrogen and other harmful gases generated during the blast furnace process.

The system operates 24/7 at Tata Steel's Kalinganagar facility. The produced hydrogen is reused in other applications at the facility, thereby increasing production efficiency and reducing environmental impacts.

This project contributes to Tata Steel's circular production goals and cost-reduction programs while also being seen as a significant step toward reducing the company's carbon footprint and achieving sustainable production objectives.
