UK mill builder Primetals Technology has announced that Russia's long product producer Abinsk Electric will modernise its steel plant, including electric arc furnaces, ladle furnaces and six billet steel continuous caster machines.
The modernisation aims to increase the production capacity of the billet steel continuous caster from 950,000 tonnes to 1.5 million tonnes/year. The modernisation of the smelter is planned to be operational by the end of this year, while the billet steel continuous casting machines are expected to be operational on 1 January 2017.
