The new line can process steel strips with thicknesses ranging from 1.8 to 15 millimeters at speeds of up to 200 meters per minute. This allows a product range that would normally require two separate conventional lines to be produced continuously on a single line. As part of the project, Primetals Technologies completed all mechanical, electrical, and automation results of the line and also provided engineering and consulting services.
Optimized coil quality
Thanks to the advanced process configuration and the use of final control technologies, the new PPPL line ensures exceptional coil quality, especially for steel coils in the 12-millimeter and above range. This technology allows better control of strip length, reduces layer offsets, and enables precise edge management.
As a result, the production process achieves higher surface quality, fewer rejected products, and more coil processing options. This provides a significant advantage in high-quality sectors such as automotive, construction, and mechanical engineering.
Maximum efficiency and advanced automation
The new line is supported by an advanced system for automatic analysis and control of the pickling process. Operators can manage the process efficiently with a comprehensive overview.
The Level 2 automation solution features an advanced pickling software model that concentrates multiple parameters at once, such as temperature, pickling level, flow, and turbulence, allowing optimal operation. This model provides higher efficiency, versatility in energy use, and lower pickling acid consumption.
Additionally, it is equipped with a sequential 4-high single-stand skin pass mill for advanced strip flatness control and a turret-headed side trimmer that ensures high edge quality for strips ranging from 2 to 8 millimeters.
