Price discrepancies between domestic and imported galvanized steel in the UAE market

Galvanized steel prices in the UAE show notable differences between domestic and imported products. As of March, local producers such as Al Ghurair Iron and Steel have set prices at $800 per ton for 1 mm Z275 galvanized steel on an EXW basis. Similarly, United Iron and Steel Company is offering the same product at $780 per ton, with shipments on a CPT basis scheduled for March.

Imported products also demonstrate activity in the market. India-based JSW is offering 1 mm Z275 galvanized steel at $790-800 per ton on a CFR Jebel Ali basis, with shipments expected between February and March. Meanwhile, Chinese suppliers are pricing 0.5-3.5 mm Z80 products between $545 and $600 per ton on a CFR Jebel Ali basis. Thinner products are reported to be closer to the upper end of the price range, with shipments anticipated between March and April.

Additionally, products imported from non-GCC (Gulf Cooperation Council) countries are subject to a 5% import duty. These dynamics are expected to influence price fluctuations in the market in the coming period.
