PPI rised 37 percent in the European Union

The Producer Price Index in the European Union increased by 37 percent in April compared to the same period of the previous year, due to the increase in energy prices.

PPI rised 37 percent in the European Union

The European Statistical Office (Eurostat) has released the April Producer Price Index (PPI) data for the European Union (EU) and the Eurozone.

Accordingly, PPI in the EU increased by 1.3 percent in April compared to the previous month, and by 37 percent compared to April of 2021.

In the Euro Zone, the PPI increased by 1.2 percent in April compared to the previous month and by 37.2 percent compared to the same month of the previous year.

In the said period, producer prices in EU countries increased by 97.2 percent in the energy sector and by 25.4 percent in intermediate goods on an annual basis.

Among EU countries, PPI increased the most in Denmark and Ireland with 62.3 percent, Romania with 60.4 percent and Belgium with 52.7 percent on an annual basis in April.

The PPI was 33.1 percent in Germany, 27.8 percent in France, 45.1 percent in Spain, and 39.2 percent in the Netherlands.
