On February 3, the company signed a memorandum of understanding at the POSCO DX Pangyo Center with representatives from POSCO, POSCO DX, POSCO Investment, and Persona AI for the field application of industrial humanoid robots.
Under the agreement, POSCO will identify potential work areas at its steel plants and conduct feasibility assessments. POSCO DX will design the robot automation system and take part in developing a model tailored specifically for steelworks. POSCO Investment will support the Proof of Concept (PoC) process aimed at evaluating the practical applicability of the technologies. Persona AI will be responsible for developing and deploying a humanoid robot platform suited to the industrial environment of steel plants.
The parties also agreed to begin testing humanoid robots developed by Persona AI from February in the logistics management of coils produced at steel plants. Cranes are required when unloading coils weighing dozens of tonnes. The humanoid robots are expected to work alongside on-site personnel in attaching crane slings to the coils. The initiative aims to create a safer working environment based on human–robot collaboration.
