Announcing that it produced 8.5 million tons of crude steel in the first quarter of 2023, Posco recorded a decrease of 3.2 percent in crude steel production compared to the first quarter of 2022. It is known that the decline in crude steel production was due to weak sales.
The renovation of the Pohang Works facility, which was temporarily suspended after flooding due to Typhoon Hinnamnor in September 2022, was completed in January 2023. The steel production of Posco Pohang Works, which has an annual crude steel production capacity of 17.9 million tons, fell to 8.3 million tons in the first quarter, decreased by 1.8 percent year-on-year.
