Akgerman, a respected figure in the business world, served for many years as Chairman of the Board at Çimentaş, one of Türkiye’s leading cement companies. He later founded AKG Group together with his sons, Bülent and Levent Akgerman, expanding the family business.
Between 1978 and 1992, Öner Akgerman served as a Member of the Assembly of the Aegean Region Chamber of Industry. From 1981 to 1984, he held the positions of Vice Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee at the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association. During his tenure at Çimentaş, he played a pioneering role in the establishment of new companies operating in ready-mix concrete, aerated concrete, Cimstone, construction, insurance, and tourism sectors.
Following the sale of Çimentaş to the Italian company Cementir in 2001, he founded AKG Yalıtım and continued production in aerated concrete and natural stone-based Cimstone products. He also made significant investments in the food sector by establishing fish farms.
Akgerman was also actively involved in social responsibility initiatives. He served as Chairman of the Board of the Çimentaş Education and Health Foundation for 15 years and was a member of the Board of Trustees of Robert College for 25 years. Through his long-standing contributions to both industry and society, Öner Akgerman secured a lasting place among the most prominent figures of the Turkish cement industry and business community.
