Pakistan's scrap, pig iron and steel imports in January 2023

According to the latest data, Pakistan imported about 225,300 tons of scrap in January this year, an increase of 18% compared to the previous month, but a decrease of 34% compared to the same month of the previous year. In monetary terms, imports amounted to roughly $ 112.43 million, an increase of 12% m-o-m and a decrease of 47% y-o-y.

At the same time, steel and pig iron imports to Pakistan amounted to 310.4 thousand tons (+24% m/m, +28% y/y). In monetary terms, imports amounted to $ 218.5 million (+23.9% m/m, +9.1% y/y).
