According to the August company establishment and closure statistics released by the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Türkiye (TOBB), the number of newly established companies decreased from 9,788 in July to 9,210. Over the same period, the number of company closures declined from 2,905 to 1,900.
In August, the number of newly established companies decreased by 0.7% compared to the same month last year, while the number of closures rose by 5.2%.
Breaking down the data, compared to the previous month, the number of newly established companies fell by 5.9%, sole proprietorships by 15.2%, and cooperatives by 25.3%. Meanwhile, the number of closed companies dropped by 34.6%, cooperatives by 27.2%, and sole proprietorships by 30.2%.
On a yearly basis, the number of newly established sole proprietorships rose by 10.8%, while companies decreased by 0.7% and cooperatives by 43.8%. In the same period, the number of closed companies increased by 5.2% and closed cooperatives by 36.1%, whereas closed sole proprietorships declined by 10.3%.
