India’s state-owned iron ore producer NMDC Ltd reported a steady improvement in operational performance in August. The company’s iron ore production increased by 9.8% year-on-year, reaching 3.37 million tonnes, compared to 3.07 million tonnes in the same month last year. Sales also increased by 8%, rising from 3.14 million tonnes in August 2024 to 3.39 million tonnes.
During the April–August period of the 2026 fiscal year, NMDC recorded total production of 18.45 million tonnes and total sales of 18.37 million tonnes. These figures mark a significant rise from 14.43 million tonnes of production and 16.27 million tonnes of sales during the same period a year earlier.
The financial performance of India’s largest iron ore miner also showed an upward trend. Net profit increased by 0.2% to ₹1,968 crore (USD 2.23 billion), surpassing expectations, while EBITDA rose by 5.9% to ₹2,478 crore. Margins declined to 36.8% from 43.2% a year earlier but remained above market expectations of 35.2%.
