Nissan to increase green steel usage by 5 times

Nissan aims to increase their use of green steel in their production in Japan by 5 times by the end of 2025, in cooperation with low-carbon steel producers.

Nissan to increase green steel usage by 5 times

Wanting to significantly increase green steel use in their Japanese manufacturing, Nissan aims to raise their green steel usage by five times by the end of 2025 compared to 2023.

This initiative is one of the steps Nissan is taking to reduce CO2 emissions at every stage of a vehicle's lifecycle in order to achieve their goals. With these efforts, Nissan aims to reduce their carbon emissions by 30% by 2030 and become carbon neutral by 2050.

As one of the leading players in Japan's automotive market, Nissan had started the sectoral use of green steel in 2023 with Kobe Steel. Now, the company continues to move forward toward its goals by partnering with companies like Nippon Steel and JFE Steel.
