Nippon Steel President Tadashi Imai stated today (March 24, 2025) that talks with the US government on the acquisition of US Steel are continuing, Reuters reported.
Imai added that there is a mutual understanding that the deal will support the US steel industry, adding that discussions will continue and aim to reach an agreement on the terms of the share purchase and capital expenditure, among other things.
In the negotiations regarding Nippon Steel's acquisition of US Steel, US President Donald Trump's last statement was that Nippon Steel would invest in US Steel. The outcome of the acquisition talks, which have been ongoing since December 2023, is a matter of curiosity.
