Nippon Steel to invest in reduced iron ore projects required for green steel

Eiji Hashimoto, President of Nippon Steel, reported that Japan's largest steelmaker company aims to participate in new raw material development projects to make reduced iron using hydrogen.

Eiji Hashimoto, President of Nippon Steel, noted at a press conference that as new development projects for coal shrink due to concerns over climate change, the company will continue to invest in coking coal mines to secure an important steelmaking raw material.

Reduced iron is produced from a process that removes oxygen from iron ore.
