According to the Nigerian Federal Ministry of Steel Development, Steel Development Minister Shuaibu Abubakar Audu and Stellar Steel President Li Shuang signed the agreement for the establishment of a modern steel plant in the Ewekoro area of Ogun state. The project will be completed in three phases, with the first phase expected to begin production by mid-2026.
Minister Audu emphasized that the agreement will support Nigeria’s goal of producing 10 million tons of crude steel annually by 2030. He highlighted that the project is expected to create more than 2,000 direct jobs and over 20,000 indirect jobs, while generating an estimated USD 1 billion in annual foreign exchange savings.
Stellar Steel President Li Shuang stated that the company will fulfill all its obligations and complete the project within the planned schedule.
