New Appointment at Thyssenkrupp Materials Services

Thyssenkrupp Materials Services has appointed Carl Brockmeyer as CEO of the Distribution & Trading business unit, from December 1, 2025. He will succeed Detlef Schotten, who has been with the company for over 30 years and he will retire in March 2026.

New Appointment at Thyssenkrupp Materials Services

In a statement regarding the appointment, Ilse Henne, CEO of thyssenkrupp Materials Services, said:
"With Carl Brockmeyer, we are gaining a leader with extensive industry experience for our Distribution & Trading operations. His international expertise, particularly in North America, will support our transformation journey from a pure materials distributor to a service provider."
Henne also expressed her gratitude to Detlef Schotten for his decades of contribution to the company’s development.

Carl Brockmeyer has spent nearly 20 years in various leadership roles at international industrial companies, including Oerlikon and Atlas Copco. He represented as President and General Manager of the North American operations of the Leybold brand, before taking on the role of President of the Scientific Vacuum Division at Atlas Copco,. He holds a degree in economics, having studied in Milan, Stockholm, and Boston.

With over 7,000 employees, Distribution & Trading is the company’s largest business unit, operating through a strong network across Europe and North America. Under its “Materials as a Service” strategy, services such as supply chain design, warehouse management, and maintenance-operation deliveries are playing an increasingly important role. Growth in the U.S. market is particularly noteworthy within this business unit.
