Ukraine's largest steel producer, Metinvest, announced that steel production decreased in 2023 due to various losses and challenges caused by the Ukraine-Russia war. The company recorded a 31% decrease on an annual basis, producing 2.03 million tons of steel in 2023.
The company stated that the main reason for the decrease in steel production was the closure of some production facilities in Mariupol, Avdiivka, and Zaporizhzhia.
According to statements from Ukrainian official institutions, Ukraine's total steel production decreased by 0.6% annually to 6.23 million tons in 2023.
