According to a statement by Hungary’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Péter Szijjártó, production of the A-Class is scheduled to begin in Kecskemét later this year. The plant currently manufactures the new fully electric GLB as well as the C-Class. The addition of the A-Class is expected to further increase Mercedes’ production volume in the country.
Operational since 2012, the Kecskemét plant has grown into Mercedes-Benz’s largest manufacturing site in Europe, surpassed globally only by its facilities in China. The factory employs approximately 5,000 people directly and produces a wide range of vehicles, including internal combustion engine models, plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles.
In 2024, the site was named Hungary’s most attractive workplace and has repeatedly been recognized as the best factory within the Mercedes Group. In October 2024, the plant marked a major milestone with the rollout of its two-millionth vehicle. Meanwhile, the company is also progressing with plans to establish its first research and development center in Hungary.
