Morocco’s leading flat steel producer, Maghreb Steel, announced that it has commissioned new automation systems at its facilities to enhance production efficiency and elevate workplace safety standards. The company stated that the systems were supplied by MORE, a manufacturer of chemical energy and auxiliary equipment for the steel industry.
As part of the investment, the MOTANK system, which remotely removes scrap accumulated at the slag door, and the STROP system, which clears blockages in the EBT (Empty Body Taphole) area using a powerful hydraulic rod, have been put into operation. These technologies eliminate previously manual and high-risk tasks, significantly improving operational safety in the melt shop.
The company noted that these modernization steps were implemented in line with Maghreb Steel’s “Zero Accidents by Choice” approach. While prioritizing employee health and safety in all technological investments, Maghreb Steel also aims to strengthen its organizational structure to achieve the highest occupational health and safety standards.
