Liberty Steel announced that it plans to suspend operations at two British plants and reduce production at other plants.
The company stated that rising energy costs are high and products imported from abroad are below domestic production prices. These factors made commodity grade products uncompetitive.
In addition, the decision resulted in 440 jobs being lost, although the company tried to keep them through a permit and reassignment program.
