LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool begins production for new energy project

LIBERTY Steel UK's pipe manufacturing facility in Hartlepool has announced the start of production for a major energy infrastructure project in the United Kingdom. The project, led by the North Endurance Partnership (NEP) and Net Zero Teesside Power (NZT Power), is expected to be a critical step toward the UK’s goal of achieving net-zero emissions.

LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool begins production for new energy project

LIBERTY will produce a total of 105 km of offshore pipeline to enable the transportation of CO2 to the Endurance carbon capture and storage facility located in the North Sea. These pipes will be placed 1,000 meters below the seabed to securely store carbon emissions.

The production process is expected to continue until the third quarter of 2025, during which time LIBERTY will contribute to the project's success by manufacturing high-quality carbon steel pipes. It is also announced that the Greentec steel plates used in the project will be sourced from Austria, and an environmentally friendly production process will be followed in line with sustainable manufacturing principles.

LIBERTY Steel Chief Transformation Officer Jeff Kabel stated, “Following months of meticulous planning, mill preparation, recruitment, and training, LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool is proud to announce the start of manufacturing for the NEP and NZT Power projects. It is flagship project and hopefully one of many similar projects in the UK, and internationally, that the business hopes to be involved in. LIBERTY Pipes Hartlepool has an extensive track record in the North Sea and now, in line with our long-term strategy, we are pleased to extend our involvement in support of new Energy Transition infrastructure.  We look forward to delivering the project safely and to the satisfaction of our client.”
