QazSpecSteel plans to invest $587 million in the construction of a metallurgical plant with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons.
The new business will manufacture blanks for rails and fittings, formed steel and rail wheels using local raw materials.
One of its main customers will reportedly be the Aktobe Rail and Beam Factory (ARBZ).
It has been announced that the commissioning of this business will increase Kazakhstan's imports of steel semi-finished products and fittings to a total of $990 million per year.
