According to the data announced by the Italian Steel Producers Association, steel production decreased by 14.2 percent to 1.8mt in June, due to reduced demand and higher energy costs.
Data show that production fell 4% to 12.23mt in the first six months of the year.
The long product output of electric arc furnaces fell 23.2% to 1.01mt in June. Flat product production, on the other hand, fell 15.1% to 788,000mt.
Ex-factory HRC prices have decreased from EUR 950/mt at the beginning of the month to EUR 770/mt at the end of June. The average HRC price was last announced on 20 July as 800 euro/mt.
