JSW Steel will build a new steel plant with a capacity of 13.2 million tons

The facility will have an integrated structure, including a power plant, cargo handling facilities at docks and a cement production unit. JSW Steel's complex will be set up at Dhinkia Nuagaon and Gadakujanga in Erasama Tehsil in Jagatsinghpur district of Odisha.

The company stated that the integrated steel project will require an investment of approximately 650 billion rupees ($7.8 billion). JSW Steel's crude steel capacity is currently 29.7 million tonnes, which it plans to increase to 38.5 million tonnes by the fiscal year April 2024-March 2025. The reserves of the company's iron ore mines in Odisha are at the level of 1.1 billion tons.

JSW Steel's iron ore shipments from mines in Odisha and Karnataka states stood at 23.73 million tonnes in the year to March 31, 2023. The plant's India operations produced 6.63 million tonnes of crude steel in the October-December 2023 quarter, up 7% year-on-year.

It is anticipated that the completion of the facility will provide significant economic development in Odisha and across India and create thousands of new jobs.
