Jindal Stainless opens India’s first stainless steel plant with a 1.25 billion rupee investment

Jindal Stainless, one of India’s leading stainless steel producers, has inaugurated its first stainless steel production facility in Washivali, Patalganga (Mumbai) with an investment of 125 crore rupees (13.7 million euros).

Jindal Stainless opens India’s first stainless steel plant with a 1.25 billion rupee investment

The facility will be operated by Jindal Stainless’s subsidiary, JSSL (Jindal Stainless Steelway Limited), covering an area of 400.000 square meters.

The new production unit will focus on manufacturing key components such as beams and other fabricated structures for bridges and infrastructure projects. The facility is expected to produce approximately 4.000 tons of processed stainless steel by the end of its first year, with the company aiming to increase annual production to 18.000 tons by fiscal year 2027.

Tarun Khulbe, CEO and CFO of Jindal Stainless, stated that the project aims to address the lack of qualified manufacturing infrastructure in India’s stainless steel sector. Khulbe emphasized that the new facility will combine technology, expertise, and process innovation to deliver durable and sustainable infrastructure solutions.

The company plans to replicate this production model at other locations in India to strengthen the national supply chain.

In fiscal year 2025, Jindal Stainless reported revenue of 40.182 crore rupees. The company operates 16 production and processing facilities across countries including India, Spain, and Indonesia, with operations in 12 countries worldwide.
