The new BSRM steel plant, which opened on Saturday in Mirsharai, Chittagong, was part of a $50 million investment agreement signed between BSRM Steels and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in October 2023.
The opening is seen as a milestone in JICA’s support for Bangladesh’s private sector. The newly opened environmentally friendly steel plant is expected to not only increase production capacity but also reduce Bangladesh's dependence on imported steel.
The new BSRM plant ensures clean air emissions with state-of-the-art Air Pollution Control (APC) technology, while its water treatment and recycling facility enables 100% reuse of process water.
