Industry representatives emphasized that measures are becoming increasingly urgent in response to the growing pressure from rising steel exports from China to Japan. The Federation and related organizations highlighted that commonly used methods to evade duties include routing products through third countries and subjecting them to only minimal processing.
The Japanese government is currently examining the necessity of imposing anti-dumping duties on certain products, including hot-dip galvanized steel sheets originating from China. However, industry groups argue that without addressing the existing regulatory deficiencies, such duties will not be effective.
The statement also pointed out that among G20 countries, only Japan and Indonesia currently lack a system to prevent circumvention of anti-dumping measures.
