Itaminas realizes first direct export of iron ore via Porto Sudeste

Itaminas, a mining company operating in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais, realized its first direct export of iron ore to the international market on Thursday, June 26. For this operation, the company used the infrastructure of Porto Sudeste, a public-private partnership on the coast of Rio de Janeiro.

The operation was accompanied by a corporate ceremony attended by members of the company's board of directors and a technical tour of the port facilities. The visit included an on-site inspection of the logistics operations and the loading dock.

Thiago Toscano, CEO of the company, stated that the direct export model increases Itaminas' competitiveness and makes cargo movements faster. Argeu Géo Filho, Vice President of Operations, emphasized that the new logistics route facilitates access to international markets by reducing iron ore delivery times abroad.

Clacione Clás, Chief Operating Officer, stated that the integration of all processes, from production to transportation and shipment, strengthens the company's value chain. This initiative is in line with Itaminas' internationalization strategy, which aims to increase export volumes and reach new destinations, the company said in a statement.

The moments of the ore shipment were shared on the company's social media accounts, reinforcing corporate communication with employees, business partners and customers. Embracing the mission of “mining that sustains life”, Itaminas reiterated its commitment to this principle with operations that extend beyond national borders.

Porto Sudeste is a key hub for regional logistics, offering direct maritime access to Asia, the Middle East and Europe, while linking with the Central do Brasil Railway (EFCB) and roads, bringing commodity flows from the interior of Minas Gerais to the rest of the country. In this way, it strengthens its position as one of the country's main logistics corridors.
