The increase in steel product prices in Italy, compared to March, prevented prices from trending downward after the start of the new season.
In the latest ranking by the World Steel Association, Italy was recognized as the 11th largest steel producer, following Iran, with a production of 21.6 million tons of raw steel in 2022.
As Easter approaches, the supply trend in the market is showing a decrease. Therefore, manufacturers of some steel products, such as Italian rebar, are considering increasing prices for products available on the market up to 500-800 euros.
It is believed that the increasing prices may lead consumers in the construction sector to use imported rebar. In addition, Italy, which saw a 12% increase in the construction sector last year, is expected to face a 6% decrease due to this price increase.
