Strong growth in long products
Long steel products continued their production growth in September. Output in this segment rose by 10% to reach 1.2 million tons. From January to September 2024, total production of 9.2 million tons represented a 3.5% increase compared to the same period last year.
Flat products show recovery
Flat products rebounded in September following a sharp 30.5% decline in August. Production increased by 17.2% to 887 thousand tons. Consequently, total output for the first nine months of the year reached 6.8 million tons, marking a 5.7% growth compared to the same period in 2023.
With double-digit growth in both long and flat products, Italy has returned to positive momentum in European steel production. The September data underline the strengthening of the country’s steel industry recovery in the second half of the year.
