Rebar manufacturers demand a base factory outlet of 510-520 €/ton. So far, rebar contracts in Italy have been set at a base factory outlet of €500-510/ton. According to sources, local prices, including size extras, have returned to the ex-factory level of €760-770/ton.
Last week, manufacturers demanded a factory exit of €560/ton ($607) or a base delivery of €580/ton. Distributors say they are taking orders from the construction industry despite the stagnant market, but the recent price increase has made customers refuse to buy rebar and mesh.
Poor order intake this week has led manufacturers to partially resume production.
