Drawing attention to the fact that industrial production indicators have been negative for a long time, Bahçıvan emphasized that the PMI data announced in July once again reveals the gravity of the situation. “The İSO Turkey Manufacturing PMI figures have long remained below the threshold value of 50. The July data shows that this difficult period has now extended into its 16th month,” he said, noting that the point reached in the production sector is no longer sustainable.
“We Have Exceeded the Limits of What We Can Endure”
Commenting on the sectoral PMI data, Bahçıvan noted that all 10 sectors tracked experienced contraction in July, just as they had in June, with the situation worsening especially in labor-intensive industries. He emphasized that industrialists have made significant sacrifices in the fight against inflation, stating: “We are paying a heavy price for this struggle. At this point, it must be recognized that our industry has exceeded its limits in bearing the burden.”
A Sustainable Solution Model Is on the Way
Bahçıvan stressed that the industrial sector cannot progress further under the current conditions and announced that İSO is working on a new solution model. “These problems cannot be solved with clichés or conventional demands. We will soon share our solution model, developed with a new-generation perspective, with the public,” said Bahçıvan, adding that this process is being conducted in consultation with all stakeholders, especially political authorities.
